Recount Text

Definition of Recount Text

          Recount text is text which retells past event or experience for the purpose of informing or entertaining . This could include personal events, factual incidents or imaginary incident

Generic Structure of Recount Text

v Orientation

          Orientation is setting the scene and giving the necessary background 

           information such as who, when, where, what and why.

v Events

           Event is re telling the event in chronological order or logical sequence,

           usually in the past (There is no complication in recount)

v Re-orientation

           Re-orientation is including a personal comment or opinion and a closing

           Statement

Language Feature:

·        Introducing personal participants ; I. my group, ect.

·        Using chronological connection ; then, first, ect.

·        Using Simple Past Tense :

Telling Past Event

(+)  S + V2

(-)   S + did not + V1

Telling Past Conditions

(+)   S + was/were + noun/adjective

(-)    S + was/were not + noun/adjective

My Holiday

            Last week I went to mount Bromo. I stayed at my friend’s house in Probolinggo, east Java. The house has a big garden with colorful flowers and a small pool.

            In the morning , my friend and I saw Mount Batok .The scenery was very beautiful. We rode on horseback. It was scary, but I was fun. Then we went to get a closer look at the mountain. We took pictures of the most beautiful scenery there. After that , we took arrest and had lunch under a big tree. Before we got home , we went to the zoo Wonokromo. We went home in the afternoon.

            We were very tired however, I think it was really fun to have holiday like this. I hope my next holiday will be more interesting.
